The Level 10 gymnast just finishing her junior year of high school was looking forward to her first chance to get qualified for the national meet in Oregon. Her bar routine had been going well–she caught her Comaneci three times last week in practice and her toe catch highs were looking good. Her hand spring layout layout were still strong on beam and she was almost landing her one and a half layout off the vault table. Her piked double on the floor was still not landing well, but other than that, if she kept practicing for the next few weeks, she should be ready to compete. Knee injuries and surgery had kept her from getting the chance to qualify for nationals the last two years, but this season was different. And then she landed the last vault of the night short and something stung in her back. It didn’t seem like much at first, just a tight spot in the bottom right of her back. Nothing the back buddy contraption couldn’t relieve. Or so she thought.
Unfortunately, the Level 10 gymnast’s back spasm didn’t go away and no amount of deep tissue massaging or physical therapy laser treatments seemed to be working. She was devastated and exhausted. Not sleeping well because of spasms and too tired to get enough reps in at practice. Finally, one night after practice as the gymnast sat icing her coach asked her if she had called the chiropractor. Her parents had thought about it because she had been before, but everyone was determined that this time deep tissue massage was the way to go.
After two weeks of little relief she mentioned calling the chiropractor and just like that they made her appointment. Although the results were not immediate her decision to seek affordable chiropractic care turned out to be the best. Gradually after a few adjustments the pain diminished and she was finally able to get some great rest. Perhaps as much as anything else, resting was sped up the recovery process. She knew though that the chiropractic services were what made the pain bearable.
It may come as no surprise to most people that affordable chiropractic care is a life changing treatment. An estimated 44,400 chiropractors working in America treat patients with health problems of the neuromusculoskeletal system. This system includes bones, ligaments, nerves, muscles, and tendons. Graduates of chiropractic schools use spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage a variety of health concerns. While many people know that chiropractic schools train doctors to treat back and neck pain, this growing group of specialists can help patient’s manage other health issues as well. Chiropractic consulting has become so prevalent that their employment is projected to grow 15% between the years of 2012 to 2022. This is faster than the average for all occupations.
Whether you are a young gymnast looking for immediate pain relief and long term pain management, or you are a young professional looking for a career in the chiropractic medicine field, affordable chiropractic care deserves your attention.
